Justyna Kowalczyk-Tekieli reported on social media about the funeral date of her husband, the tragically deceased mountaineer Kacper Tekieli. It will take place next Tuesday (May 30) at 2:30 pm in Gdansk at Oliwa Cemetery.

“Kasper’s funeral will take place on May 30, 2023 at 14.30 in Gdańsk at the Oliwa cemetery. Instead of flowers, wreaths, etc., please help the Brumic animal shelter! My beloved husband loved animals and helped them in every possible way throughout his life. I ask you to respect the privacy of Hugotec and his closest family And understand our pain and our loss. The farewell will be secular in nature,” cross-country skiing champion Justyna Kowalczyk Tekeli wrote.

The tragic death of a Polish climber

Kacper Tekieli was a participant in the Polish Himalayan Winter Program (2010-2015) and as part of the project he participated in expeditions to Makalu and Broad Peak Middle. In 2016, together with Paweł Karczmarczyk, he participated in a rescue operation on Shivling in the Indian Himalayas (6543m).

In the Tatras, he climbed about 300 climbing routes, many of them alone, overcoming the most important walls of the Polish and Slovak peaks. He also climbed the Alps (the famous “Alpine trio” of the North Faces: Eiger, Matterhorn, and Grands Jurass), Alaska, the Caucasus, and Norway.

Justyna Kowalczyk is a two-time Olympic champion (2010 Vancouver – 30 km classic technique, 2014 Sochi – 10 km classic technique), two-time world champion, five-time Olympic medalist, eight-time world championship medalist, four-time world cup winner, Four-time winner of the prestigious Tour de Ski.

Kacper Tekieli married Justyna Kowalczyk on September 24, 2020. On September 2, 2021, their son, Hugo, was born.
