Filippo Zanna wins the eighteenth stage of the Giro d’italia. Briton Geraint Thomas defended his leading position
Filippo Zanna (Gaico Ella) won the Val d’Zoldo. It was the eighteenth stage of the Tour. Behind him were two Frenchmen: Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ) and Warren Barguil (Arkea-Samsic). The Briton defended the leader’s seat. Its advantage is increasing.
Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers), the current leader, has not lost his lead in the general classification of the Giro d’italia. He finished the eighteenth stage in eighth place. It was a decent day. I made time for Almeida and didn’t let Primoz get the better of him, it was a good, solid day. I felt fine, completely under control.

Primoz likes to go hard, then easy, then tough. I gave him a few turns and after that I wasn’t sure how he felt. In the last two kilometers he pushed hard again, he was very strong, but I was happy with how he looked.
Italian Filippo Zana Team Jayco AlUla won the 18th stage of the Giro d’Italia cycling race in Val di Zoldo in the Dolomites. Zhanna overtook the last of the escape companions, the Frenchman, at the end Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ). Third place, 50 seconds behind, was taken by another Frenchman Warren Bargil (Arcaea samsik). Thomas lost 1:56.
Before the final on Sunday in Rome, the cyclists had another mountain stage and an individual ride time trial.
