24:22 into the tiebreaker! Another exciting confrontation of Polish volleyball players with Germany

The beginning of the meeting was played with the advantage of the Poles (9: 5), but the rivals quickly made up for the losses and after serving Tobias Krek the score was 9: 9. Since then, the score has been hovering around a draw and neither side has been able to build a permanent advantage. The hosts got the first ball after the attack of Artur Zalbuk (24:23), but Denis Calibrda’s kick started the game in their favour. In the decisive action, Karol Buterin won the net scramble (26:24).
The second half started with Germany (1: 5). The hosts quickly equalized, and then, thanks to a good serve, they got the advantage. Asami Szalpuk (11:9) and Butrin (14:12) showed. In the other part of the group, the feature was changed and once again the fate of the group was finally decided. This time it was won by volleyball players from Germany. Their strong weapon was mass and it was this element that won them the last point (23:25).
In the third set, both teams continued to take risks in the service area. Again, we saw even-handed competition, but this time only until 15:15. Later, volleyball players from Germany took the lead. They took advantage of the Poles’ problems with reception and jumped by four points (16:20). In the end, they kept the advantage, and the score was recorded at 22:25 with a missed serve by the hosts.
The fourth set is a good start for the German national team, but the Poles quickly closed the gap. The series of points for the hosts from 16:16 to 23:16 turned out to be decisive for the fate of this segment, crowned by the serving ace of Szalpuk. Kamil Semenyuk closed the group with an interception attack (25:18).
The second match between Poland and Germany, like the first, ended in a tie-breaker. The beginning of the decisive match with the least lead of the Poles (5: 3). The guests equalized, but the effective attacks of Semeniuk and Szalpuk allowed them to jump far (11: 8). This advantage could not be maintained (12:12) and the end of the set was decisive. Anton Brehme finished off two tackles, and the Germans took possession of the match ball (13:14), but the set ended with a long and fierce match in favor of the advantage. In decisive actions, the Poles first stopped the attack of the opponents with a block, and then the automatic attack of the guests ended the long exchange and the whole match (24:22).
Summary of the match Poland – Germany:
In the first matches of the season, the coach of the Polish national team cannot use the services of all players. The team lacks volleyball players from the two best teams in the recently completed club matches – Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle and Jastrzębski Węgiel, as well as others, Bartosz Korek, Wilfredo Leon, Bartosz Kowalek and Pawe Zatorski.
Nikola Grbic has already announced the squad for the first Nations League tournament. The Poles will start competing on June 7 at the tournament in Nagoya. They will face France, Iran, Bulgaria and Serbia respectively. Before that, they will play two friendlies against Japan (1-2 June).
